That's just so damn funny. LOL. Of course you know what's necessary here, just go up to people plaintively asking, "have yewwww seeen my doogggg???? ah ah! I heard some arfing! I hear Fluffy!" Turn around craning your neck every where looking for "Fluffy" "where are you Fluffy?! Come to mommy, come to mommy Fluff-eeeee!" If you can find some pre-recorded device for a nearby friend to play randomly of a dog arfing/whining, even better.
